You as the crew welfare coordinator, also known as crew enrichment officer, will be in charge of scheduling activities and events throughout the year for crew members. What Does a Crew Welfare Coordinator Actually Do?


Your main job onboard a cruise ship as a crew welfare coordinator is to make sure the crew has as many activities as possible, within the budget provided. Also, the activities are organized in accordance with the ship rules. Another part of the job is to assist crew members with questions regarding benefits such as cruise discounts on cruises, as well as being available to answer any quick questions and concerns regarding hosted activities, which are among many of the activities performed by the crew welfare coordinator.

You will have a monthly budget that should cover all and any expenses that you might have to perform your duties. The calendar of events will include all activities that are scheduled for the duration of the month and include all activities that are open to the whole crew. Assist HR with Sign-on and Sign-off procedures

Sign-on and sign-off days are one of the busiest for almost everyone onboard the ship. On the guest’s side, they will be leaving the ship, while housekeeping will be working hard to turn around the rooms and have them ready and clean for the next wave of guests. Your job during this day is to help the HR and personnel manager with the crew that will be leaving the ship, as well as the crew that will be coming in, with a mix of new hires and returning crew.

For sign-off procedures, you will be helping to distribute passports and custom forms for the arrival port, help sort it out any issues that may arise, and assist with the immigration setup for the crew, if necessary. 

For sign-on procedures, you will help welcome the crew onboard, assist with the new hire orientation, and do a crew tour around the ship for new hires. You will also provide some training for the crew regarding what’s available onboard for them such as activities and tools to make their life at sea more enjoyable. Depending on the ship/company, these tasks are also performed by the crew training specialist.

Crew TV Channels are dedicated television channels specifically designed for the entertainment and information needs of the ship’s crew members. Crew TV Channels often offer a variety of content, including popular movies, TV shows, documentaries, news updates, sports highlights, and educational programs. 

In addition to entertainment, Crew TV Channels also feature important announcements, updates on ship operations, safety information,  weather information, and training videos. They serve as a valuable communication tool to keep the crew well-informed about the ship’s activities, upcoming events, videos from the latest crew party, and any changes in schedules or procedures.
